The green painter plaster cast of the circa 478-474 BC bronze that commemorated a victor of the chariot event in the Pythian Games at Delphi. Now in the Delphi Archaeological Museum, the Greek work was originally part of the monumental sculptural group that also included the chariot, four to six horses and two grooms. The figure wears the chariot driving costume of xystin, the pleats of which emphasise the height and grace of the model. Raised on an integral plinth bearing the French title of the work 'DELPHES AURIGE VAINQUER (no arm and reins lacking).
