An 18th century Flemish ebonized and giltwood side cabinet with repoussé brass ornament, The cabinet of stepped sectional form, the upper section with doors each with black painted repoussé rosette mounts and elaborately pierced escutcheon, with a raised wooden frame enclosing a polished repoussé figure of Mars in victory on the right, the latter with a pierced black repoussé jamb, the interior of each door with a conforming frame enclosing a mirror with an etched floral design in a giltwood border, the door opening to a fitted interior of drawers around a central door, the whole painted in faux red tortoiseshell, each drawer and door with a central floral etched mirror in a giltwood frame, the central drawers further embellished with giltwood rinceaux and the door with a putto and Solomonic columns, rising to a stepped top applied with polished repoussé mask head mounts and a further escutcheon below a hinged lid, the cabinet doors above a frieze drawer with two frames enclosing polished repoussé allegories of peace and time centered on an escutcheon, supported on a shaped apron. The lower section with two drawers each framed by a further raised wooden molding, above an undertier raised on a further shaped apron.
