The circular seat upholstered in green velvet and pinned high over the rope form frame to four legs with knotted stretcher and each knotted over tassel seat. Fournier worked as a leading upholsterer in the Second Empire in France (1852-1870), working in the boulevard Beaumarchis in Paris. One of the characteristically Avant Garde rope stools designed by Fournier, now resides at the Musée National du Château de Compiègne.
