The ovoid wooden box covered in gold coloured velvet with a gilt spelter bamboo moulding to the rim of the hinged cover, surmounted by a spelter figure of a seated poodle, its right paw resting on a bicorne hat alongside a broken shield referencing the popular use of poodles as war dogs during the Napoleonic Wars, the box opening to a padded moiré silk interior containing a pair of leaver gloves, raised on gilt spelter ball feet.
