(G49) Enlivened with polychrome application, her head on a slight incline, wearing a high foliate coronet, centred by the carved effigy of the seated Amitabha Buddha, the plump face with idealized features emanating an aura of utter serenity, with fine strokes indicating the high-arching eyebrows, surmounting the slanted, half-closed eyes with their gaze downcast, the small, plump lips pursed in a gentle pout, with a brahmanic cord looped diagonally around her curvaceous torso and tied in a loose bow on the lap, the fabric of the dhoti skirt falling in concentric curves to her ankles, seated in alitasana on a rocky naturalistic base, with robes flowing over the base, her right hand raised to the level of her chest in a form of shramana mudra, the left hand supporting the pose.

Provenance: In a private Hong Kong collection prior to 2006.
