The youthful figure with a draped animal skin and a twisted wreath of grape and ivy adorning his curled hair, his cheeks puffed as though playing an aulos, both arms raised out before him to hold the missing original pipes, standing upright against a tree stump in subdued contrapposto, his right leg straight whilst the left is gently bent, his sandalled feet raised on an associated stone dais and a modern painted wooden plinth.  Late 19th Century.                                        Â
