Cast after an antique (c. 495 – 429 B.C.) Roman copy of a bronze statue made by the sculptor Kresilas (c. 430 B.C.) Pericles was a prominent and influential Greek statesmans, orator and general of  Athens. This cast is based on the one in the Museo Pio-Clementino, Vatican Museums bearing the inscription "Pericles, son of Xanthippus, Athenian".
