Executed in the renaissance style, the impressive single plank top within a mitred border and running cabochon on an ogee moulding with beaded edge, over a foliated frieze punctuated by six figured panels, two on each long and one on each short side, each with a recumbent female figure, the personifications of virtues: Charity with two children, Justice with a sword and scales, Faith with a cross and pointing to the rays of the sun, Fortitude with columns, Kindness with a swan and Hope with an anchor. The base comprises a pair of carved pedestals, each centred by a three-quarter personification of Abundance, a draped woman wearing a necklace and raising her hands up holding fruit and flowers, two children beside her, a pair of opposed winged sirens facing laterally, their sensuous bodies sweeping to foliated scrolls and a pair hippocamp protome below with an Ammon mask between, the two pedestals joined by a central box stretcher carved with a frieze of floral arches and mounted with a pair of opposed goat head and hoof trapezophoros, a single one at each end butting to each pedestal.
