The wreathed infant Bacchus reclining along the back of a ram passant, entwined in vines of grape and ivy, his right hand clutching the horn of the animal and his left wrapping around the fragmented haft of a Thyrsus, the upper and lower portions of which are absent, the whole mounted on a bevelled marble plinth, the signature of the seminal Rococo sculptor ‘Clodion’ cast to the base of the bronze.
