The Bodhisattva standing in a posture of composed elegance and grace, crowned with an elaborate foliate diadem adorned with seated Amitaba Buddha, her hair swept back majestically into a high chignon, some loose locks of hair arranged elegantly over shoulders, with curved hairline, a deeply indented 'urna' in the centre of the forehead, the plump facial features pleasingly harmonised, with high arching eyebrows surmounting the half-closed eyes, exuding an air of somnolent serenity, with broad nose and full lips, producing a sensuous and mediative expression, her pendulous lobes adorned with disc-shaped earrings, wearing an intricate foliate necklet, armlets and bracelets along both arms, the left hand held up in a pointing downward away form the body, the full figure draped in a dhoti of vermillion and copper greeen pigments, tied with the brahmanic cord around the waist to form a voluminous double-skirt, falling in graceful folds down to the partially obscured feet, the whole raised on a lotus base.
Provenance: In a private Hong Kong collection prior to 1984.
