(G48) A striking portrayal of the benevolent bodhisattva, seated majestically in rajalilasana, her face surmounted by an elegant high coronet detailed with foliate scrolls and centred by a large flower-head, with a baseline of meander pattern, the hair arranged dramatically into a high chignon, twisted tresses looped around the pendulous lobes and flowing in tendrils over the shoulders, her rippling hairline sharply rendered, framing the round face with bold features, her high-arching eyebrows surmounting the narrow slanted eyes, with downcast gaze, the eyes with inlaid stone, the plump lips pursed in a solemn pout, festooned with an intricate floral necklace bearing a form of the vajra symbol, with bracelets and armlets encircling both arms, the brahmanic cord slung diagonally across her torso and tied at the waist to secure the skirt of her dhoti, the right foot exposed.

Provenance: In a private Singaporean collection prior to March 1981
