(G55) Resplendent with polychrome application, the figure seated at ease in rajalilasana, with the right hand resting on the raised leg, the left hand supporting the pose, she wears a magnificent foliate diadem with applied vermilion pigment, centred by the carved effigy of the seated Amitabha Buddha, her hair arranged in an elaborate high looped chignon, with tresses looped around her pendulous lobes, a prominent, rippling hairline enlivened with naturalistic blue-black pigment, framing her characteristically round face with harmonised features, a large urna indented in the centre of her forehead, her gaze humbly downcast, her full lips set in a pout, enhanced with vibrant vermilion pigment, festooned with an elegant foliate necklace bearing a large vermilion lotus flower-head at its centre, with a vermilion elongated shoulder scarf looped around her upper arms and trailing down alongside her body, a vermilion brahmanic cord slung diagonally across her upright torso and tied at the waist to secure the skirt of her dhoti, the folds in the fabric rendered in concentric curves.

Provenance: In a private Hong Kong collection prior to 2006.
